Description In 2006, J4Y teamed up with the Muslim Scouts Fellowship (MSF) and the official UK Scout Association to start-up the first Muslim Scouts group in the Tooting area which has been named the 9th Southside scout group. As far as Muslim Scouting in the UK is concerned, this emerged in the late 90’s. It was developed by a few Muslim scout leaders who believed in the values of scouting and wanted the Muslim youth to share in the benefits and fun of scouting while at the same time, not compromise their Islamic principles. In the last few years, the idea of Muslim scouting has gained a lot of support and momentum within UK’s Muslim community. Muslim youth, both as leaders and members, are flooding into scouting and the numbers have increased greatly in the last couple of years. The J4Y team have also realised the benefits of working with the scouts movement and have therefore set-up this South London scout group. At this early stage, J4Y can only accommodate boys but are looking to provide facilities for girl scouts in the near future, insh’Allah. From time to time, we will be going on day trips, amongst other things. So for a fulfilling, educational and rewarding experience for your children, please bring your child.
